Choose the margin
Standard Margin leaves 10 mm of white space on every side of the A4 page — right for anything printed or bound. No Margin fits the image to the full sheet instead.
Leave density enhancement on
It renders the image at a higher internal resolution before the PDF scales it down, which is what stops the fine cracking along the edges of scanned text and signatures. Turn it off only if you want the smallest possible file.
Add sharpening if the scan is soft
Adaptive sharpening lifts edge contrast slightly. It helps a flat or slightly out-of-focus scan; on an already crisp photograph it is unnecessary and can look harsh, so it is off by default.

About the JPG to PDF Converter
This tool converts a single JPG or JPEG photograph into an A4 PDF, in your browser, with controls aimed at one thing: making that one image look right on the page. It is deliberately narrow. For PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF or SVG, for several images in one document, or for page sizes other than A4, the Image to PDF Converter handles all of those.
What page do you get?
Always A4 — 210 × 297 mm. There is no page-size selector, because this tool exists to produce the sheet that forms, portals and printers actually ask for. Orientation is chosen for you: a landscape image gets a landscape A4, a portrait image a portrait one, so the photograph is never rotated to fit.
Your image is then scaled to fit inside the page and centred. It is never cropped and never stretched — the proportions you uploaded are the proportions you get.

Why JPG only
JPEG has properties no other common format shares, and the processing here is built around them. It is lossy: the file already discards detail your eye is unlikely to notice, storing the image as blocks of frequency data rather than as pixels. That is why JPEGs are small, and why enlarging one exposes blocking and haloing around hard edges — text, signatures, table rules. A tool that treats every format identically cannot compensate for that. This one can.
What anti-aliasing and pixel-density enhancement actually do
- Pixel-density enhancement renders the image at a higher internal resolution than the page strictly needs, then lets the PDF scale it down. Detail that would otherwise be discarded during scaling survives — which is what stops the fine “cracking” along the edges of scanned text and signatures.
- Anti-aliasing smooths the transition between neighbouring pixels as the image is resampled, so diagonal lines and letterforms do not develop a staircase edge.
The honest trade-off: both work by redrawing, so the image is re-encoded once. The result is a larger file than a straight embed, and — since JPEG is lossy — the second encode cannot recover detail the original had already thrown away. It makes a good scan look clean. It cannot rescue a bad one.
Things worth knowing before you convert
- JPEG cannot store transparency. If your source had a transparent background before it was saved as JPEG, that area is already white or black in the file. No converter can bring it back — you need the original PNG and the Image to PDF Converter.
- Progressive JPEGs are fine. Both baseline and progressive encodings are read correctly; the difference affects how an image loads, not what it contains.
- CMYK JPEGs are the awkward case. Four-channel JPEGs from print workflows decode inconsistently in browsers and may shift colour. Convert to RGB first if colour fidelity matters.
- Rotation is applied as you see it. Because the image is redrawn rather than embedded raw, EXIF orientation from a phone camera is baked into the page — the photograph will not come out sideways in a strict PDF reader.
- Nothing is uploaded. The whole conversion happens in this tab, which matters here more than on most tools: the files people convert to PDF are usually identity documents, contracts and financial records.

What page size does the PDF use?
Always A4, 210 × 297 mm. Orientation is chosen from your image — landscape images get a landscape page — and the image is scaled to fit inside and centred. If you need Letter, Legal, A3 or a page sized to the image itself, use the Image to PDF Converter.
Why does this tool only accept JPG?
Its processing is built specifically around JPEG’s lossy, block-based compression — the anti-aliasing and pixel-density work exists to counter artefacts characteristic of that format. For PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF or SVG, use the Image to PDF Converter, which accepts all of them.
Will converting reduce the quality?
The image is redrawn to apply anti-aliasing and pixel-density enhancement, so it is re-encoded once. On a normal photograph or scan the difference is not visible, and edges usually come out cleaner than a direct embed. What no converter can do is restore detail the JPEG discarded when it was first saved.
Can I convert several JPGs into one PDF here?
No — this tool handles one image at a time, by design. For multiple images use the Image to PDF Converter, which takes up to 30 and gives each its own page.
Is JPEG the same as JPG?
Yes. Same format; the three-letter extension is a leftover from operating systems that allowed only three characters. Both are accepted.
What resolution should my JPG be?
For a sharp print, about 2,244 px across if you use the standard 10 mm margin, or about 2,480 px with no margin — both give roughly 300 PPI on A4. For reading on screen, anything above 1,200 px is comfortable.
Will my image be cropped or stretched?
Neither. It is scaled to fit inside the page and centred, so the proportions you uploaded are preserved exactly.
Does it keep transparency?
JPEG cannot store transparency at all — if the original had a transparent background it was already flattened when the JPEG was created. To keep transparency you need the original PNG and the Image to PDF Converter with Keep transparency enabled.
Will my photo come out rotated the wrong way?
No. Because the image is redrawn rather than copied in raw, the orientation you see in the preview is the orientation baked into the PDF.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens inside this browser tab, which is why the tool is safe for ID scans, signatures and financial documents.
Is there a watermark or a sign-up?
Neither, and no daily limit. The conversion costs us nothing because it runs on your device rather than ours.
