We use AI tools in building this site. This page explains where, and — more importantly — where we do not.
Where AI is used
- Drafting explanatory copy. Some of the descriptions, guides and FAQ answers on tool pages begin as an AI draft. Every one is read, edited and fact-checked by a person before it is published, and a draft that cannot be verified is rewritten or discarded.
- Writing and reviewing code. AI assistance is used while building and debugging the tools themselves, in the same way a developer uses any other tool. The behaviour of a calculator is then tested against known-correct examples regardless of how the code was written.
- Editing and proofreading — tightening wording, catching inconsistencies, checking that a page says the same thing as the tool on it.
Where AI is not used
- Not for the formulas. Every calculation is taken from a primary source — a government schedule, a standards body, a clinical guideline — and verified against it. We do not ask a language model what a tax slab or a clinical threshold is and publish the answer.
- Not for the numbers a tool returns. Every calculator runs deterministic arithmetic. Nothing on this site returns a result generated by a language model.
- Not for citations. Every source link is checked by hand and points at the actual document. Fabricated references are a known failure mode of AI writing tools, and the only defence is opening the link.
- Not for publishing without review. No page on this site is generated and published automatically. A person reads everything before it goes live.
Why we are telling you
AI-assisted writing is common and largely uncontroversial when it is edited and verified. What causes harm is unreviewed AI output presented as researched work — particularly on health and money, where a plausible-sounding wrong answer does real damage. We would rather state our position openly than let you guess.

Whatever tools were used to produce it, everything published here is the responsibility of Birbal Nag. “The AI wrote it” is not a defence we will offer. If something is wrong, please tell us — see Corrections.
