🚀 Getting Started
Open a PDF
Click the "Open PDF" button in the top bar of Edit PDF Pages Tool, or simply drag and drop any PDF file onto the canvas area. You can also click "Choose PDF File" from the empty state screen.
Create Blank Document
Click "New Blank Document" to start from scratch. A blank page will be created where you can add text, drawings, and annotations.
Save Your Work
Click the blue "Download PDF" button to export your edited document. All changes (text edits, annotations, drawings) will be permanently embedded.

📝 Text Editing
Editing Existing PDF Text
Select Edit Text Tool
Click the "Edit Text" button in the toolbar (or press E).
Click Any Text
Click on any text in the PDF. A blue outline will appear around the text block.
Edit Inline
Type your new text directly in the editor. Use the popup toolbar to change font, size, and color.
Confirm Changes
Press Ctrl+Enter to save, or Esc to cancel.
💡 Tip: Edited text blocks appear with a yellow background in the overlay. You can see all edited blocks in the left panel under the "Text" tab.
Adding New Text
- Click the "Text" button in the toolbar (or press T).
- Click anywhere on the page where you want to add text.
- A new text box will appear. Type your text and format it using the toolbar controls.
- Click outside or press Esc to finish.

🎨 Working with Annotations
Selecting Annotations
Use the "Select" tool (or press V) to click and select any annotation. Selected items show a blue border and a red delete handle.
Moving Annotations
With the "Select" tool active, click and drag any annotation to reposition it. The properties panel updates in real-time.
Properties Panel
When an annotation is selected, the right panel shows:
- Position (X, Y) - Fine-tune the location
- Width & Height - Resize the annotation
- Opacity - Adjust transparency (0-100%)
- Layer Order - Bring forward / send backward
- Duplicate - Create a copy
- Delete - Remove the annotation
📌 Note: All annotation changes are tracked in the undo/redo system. Press Ctrl+Z to undo, Ctrl+Y to redo.

✏️ Freehand Draw
Click and drag to draw freehand lines. Use the stroke color picker to change color.
🟨 Highlighter
Click and drag to create semi-transparent yellow highlights.
⬜ Rectangle / ⚪ Ellipse
Click and drag to draw shapes. Toggle "No Fill" for outlines only.
📏 Line / ➡️ Arrow
Click and drag to draw straight lines or arrows.
🧽 Eraser
Click and drag to erase parts of drawings (works like a thick white eraser).

🖼️ Working with Images
Inserting Images
- Click the "Image" button in the toolbar (or press I).
- Select an image file from your computer (JPG, PNG, GIF, etc.).
- The image will appear at the clicked location (or at 80,80 if using the toolbar button).
Editing Images
- Move: Select and drag the image to reposition.
- Resize: Use the Width/Height inputs in the properties panel.
- Opacity: Adjust transparency with the opacity slider.
- Duplicate: Use the Duplicate button to create a copy.
- Delete: Click the red × handle or press Delete.
💡 Tip: Images are embedded in the final PDF when you download, so they'll appear exactly as placed.

Pre-defined Stamps
Quickly add professional stamps:
- ✓ Approved - Green stamp
- ✎ Draft - Gray stamp
- 🔒 Confidential - Red stamp
- ↩ Reviewed - Blue stamp
- ✕ Void - Red stamp
Click any stamp button in the right panel to insert it at the center of the page.
Signatures
Two ways to add your signature:
- Draw: Click "Signature" → draw with your mouse/touch → Insert
- Type: Click "Signature" → type your name → Insert
Drawn signatures appear as images, typed signatures appear as stylized text.
Watermarks
Add custom text watermarks:
- Enter text in the "Watermark text" field in the right panel.
- Click "Apply Watermark".
- The watermark appears as semi-transparent diagonal text.

💾 Saving & Download
Download PDF
Click the blue "Download PDF" button in the top bar to export your edited document. This process:
- Preserves all text edits (replaces original text with your changes)
- Embeds all annotations (drawings, shapes, images, stamps)
- Maintains page rotations
- Creates a new PDF file with all changes baked in
Save Session
Use File → Save Session (or Ctrl+S) to save your work as a JSON file. This allows you to:
- Save your progress without generating a PDF
- Load the session later to continue editing
- Share editable work with others
Note: Session loading requires additional implementation in your environment.
✅ Change Tracking: The badge next to the Download button shows the total number of changes (edited text blocks + annotations). This helps you keep track of your modifications.
