About the Online Notepad
A plain text notepad that opens instantly in a browser tab and saves everything as you type. No account, no sign-up, no upload — useful for a quick thought you do not want to lose, drafting a message before you paste it somewhere, stripping formatting out of copied text, or keeping a scratch list open while you work.
Autosave, and where it saves
Your note is written to your browser’s local storage a moment after you stop typing, and restored automatically when you come back. That means it survives closing the tab, closing the browser and restarting your computer. It also means it lives on this device in this browser only — it will not appear on your phone, and clearing your browsing data will delete it. Anything you need to keep should be downloaded as a .txt file.
What is in it
Live word, character and line counts, plus reading time at an average 200 words per minute. Text size can be adjusted and is remembered between visits. Copy everything to the clipboard in one click, print directly, or download a dated .txt file. Because it is plain text, pasting formatted content from a website or a document strips the styling — which is exactly why many people keep a notepad tab open.
Private by design
Nothing you type is sent anywhere. There is no server involved, no analytics on the content and no way for us to read it. If you are on a shared or public computer, use the Clear button when you finish, since the note will otherwise still be there for the next person using that browser profile.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the online notepad save my text automatically?
Yes. It saves to your browser’s local storage a moment after you stop typing and restores the note when you return, so closing the tab or the browser will not lose it.
Where is my note stored?
In this browser on this device only. It is never uploaded, which also means it will not sync to another device and clearing your browsing data will remove it. Download the .txt file for anything important.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no login and no limit on how much you write.
Can I use it offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded. Typing and autosaving both work without a connection because nothing is sent to a server.
Is it safe for private notes?
Nothing you type leaves your device, so it is private from us. On a shared computer, remember that the note stays in that browser profile until it is cleared.
