About the Add Watermark to Image tool
A watermark marks a photograph as yours before it goes out into the world — onto a marketplace listing, a portfolio, a client proof or a social post. This tool stamps either text or your own logo onto any image, with full control over size, opacity, angle and position, and a live preview so you can see the result before you download.
Text or logo
Text is the quickest route: type a name, a handle or a copyright line, pick a colour and place it. A logo works better for a brand, and a PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest result because the surrounding box will not show. Either can be placed in any of nine positions, or tiled diagonally across the whole image when you want something harder to crop out.
Getting the look right
Opacity is the setting that matters most. Around 40–50% is usually the sweet spot — clearly visible, but not competing with the photograph. Below 20% it is easy to miss and easy to remove; above 70% it dominates the image. Place a single watermark in a corner for portfolio work where the picture is the point, and use the tiled option for proofs and previews you are sending out before payment. A slight rotation makes a tiled watermark noticeably harder to clone out.
What a watermark actually does
It deters casual copying and makes the source obvious when an image is shared onward. It is not copyright protection, and it is not unremovable — anyone determined enough can edit it out, particularly a small corner mark. For images you genuinely need to protect, the practical approach is to keep the full-resolution original and share only a lower-resolution watermarked copy.
Private, free and unlimited
Everything is drawn on a canvas in your browser, so the photograph is never uploaded and there is no cap on how many images you can process. Download as JPG for photographs or PNG when you need the sharpest edges. To shrink the finished file, use the Image Compressor; to change its dimensions first, the Image Resizer.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a watermark to a photo for free?
Upload the image, choose text or a logo, set the size, opacity and position, then download. It is free with no sign-up, no limit on the number of images, and no watermark of ours added to your file.
Can I use my own logo as the watermark?
Yes. Switch to logo mode and upload your file — a PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest result, since no surrounding box will show over the photo.
What opacity should a watermark be?
Around 40 to 50 percent works for most images: clearly visible without overwhelming the photograph. Go lower for portfolio work where the picture matters most, higher for client proofs you want protected.
Should I tile the watermark across the image?
Tile it when you are sending proofs or previews before payment, since a repeated diagonal mark is much harder to crop or clone out. A single corner mark is better for finished work you want people to enjoy looking at.
Does a watermark stop people stealing my photos?
It deters casual copying and keeps your name attached when an image is shared, but it is not copyright protection and a determined person can edit it out. Keep your full-resolution originals and share lower-resolution watermarked copies.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The watermark is drawn on a canvas in your browser, so the photo never leaves your device.
