About the Scrabble Word Finder
Enter your seven tiles and this finder checks them against a 350,000-word dictionary, scores every playable word with real Scrabble letter values, and hands you the highest-scoring options first — with your single best play in a banner up top. Blanks are supported the honest way: a ? tile scores zero for the letter it covers, exactly as it does on the board, so the points shown are points you’d actually get.
A worked example
Take the classic rack AEINRST — statistically one of the best in the game. The finder surfaces its famous seven-letter anagrams (RETINAS, NASTIER, RETAINS, ANESTRI and friends): 7 points of tiles, plus the 50-point bingo bonus for emptying your rack, marked with a ★ badge — 57 points before board multipliers. Scroll down and you’ll find 100+ shorter words from the same rack, down to two-letter fillers. That’s the strategic spread this tool is built to show: the monster play, and the quiet options when the board is tight.
Playing to the board
Real turns connect to existing tiles, and the Board Filters model that: hook onto an open E with “ends with E”, play through an existing QU with “starts with QU”, or find where your X fits with “contains X”. High-value tiles are where finders earn their keep — Q (10), Z (10), J (8) and X (8) words are exactly the ones human memory runs out of. QI, ZA, JO and XI, the two-letter saviours, all show up scored and definition-checked.
Scores, honestly
Points shown are raw tile values (plus the +50 bingo where you’d earn it). They deliberately exclude board multipliers — double/triple letter and word squares depend on where you play, which only you can see. A 12-point word on a triple-word square beats a 20-point word on plain squares; the finder gives you the honest baseline to make that call.
Cheating, or studying?
Against friends, agree on the rules first. As a training tool, this is how strong players are made: after a game, re-enter your worst racks and see what you missed — discovering that AEINRST held a bingo you didn’t spot is how the pattern sticks for next time.
